These systems will be able to operate from or within confined areas, including small marine craft, urban environments and close vegetation, and work together with and complement crewed systems on a range of missions. This enables Army and Air Force to secure and control strategic land positions without placing our people in harm’s way, hold potential adversaries at risk, and support a broader strategy of denial. These capabilities are acquired as part of Project Defence 129 and deliver enhanced situational awareness and increased force protection through the acquisition and sustainment of tactical to nano-UAS platforms capable of operating across the spectrum of maritime and land force operations.

SYPAQ’s most widely recognized drone-related product for defense is the Corvo Precision Payload Delivery System (PPDS), often dubbed the “cardboard drone.” This low-cost, flat-packed, and expendable fixed-wing UAS is primarily designed for the delivery of supplies and equipment into hard-to-reach areas, removing personnel from unnecessary risk.

The PPDS has gained international attention for its proven operational use in Ukraine, where it has also been adapted for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions.

Building on this success, SYPAQ has also developed the Corvo X, a more advanced small unmanned aerial system featuring a thrust-vectoring vertical takeoff and landing configuration, sophisticated autonomous functions, and enhanced sensor capabilities for intelligence gathering, making it a key component of the Australian Army’s DEF129 Uncrewed Aerial System Program.
