In the drone domain, Rheinmetall offers solutions for both operating drones and defending against them.

The firm manufactures unmanned aerial systems such as the Luna NG (new generation) and Aladin, which are used for real-time reconnaissance and surveillance by military forces.

Rheinmetall is also actively involved in developing a standardized, software-based operating system for unmanned aerial, land, and naval drone systems through a partnership with Auterion, aiming to improve interoperability and reduce training complexity for military users.

For counter-drone capabilities, Rheinmetall provides a comprehensive “Drone Defence Toolbox,” which includes advanced sensor fusion (radars, passive emitter locators, cameras), and effectors such as jammers, high-energy lasers, and air defense cannons utilizing specialized Ahead air burst ammunition.

Its C-UAS solutions are available in stationary, rapid-deployable, and mobile configurations, including integration onto armored vehicles, as demonstrated by their mobile C-UAS system and the Ultra-SHORAD system.

Beyond aerial drones, Rheinmetall is a leader in uncrewed ground vehicles with their Mission Master family, which can perform various tasks like resupply, reconnaissance, and casualty evacuation using their proprietary PATH autonomy kit.
