25. Edge Autonomy – United States

Edge Autonomy, headquartered in San Luis Obispo, California, is a developer of state-of-the-art unmanned and autonomous aircraft solutions for both civil and defense applications.

Formed in 2021 through the merger of UAV Factory and Jennings Aeronautics, Edge Autonomy brings together over three decades of experience in aerospace engineering, manufacturing expertise, and advanced technology.

The company specializes in long-endurance fixed-wing UAV airframes, advanced gimbal payloads, and resilient continuous power systems, delivering field-proven solutions that can operate in diverse and challenging environments.

As of late 2024, Edge Autonomy was acquired by Redwire Corporation in a significant deal, aiming to create a multi-domain space and defense technology company.

For defense and homeland security, Edge Autonomy provides a range of highly capable unmanned aerial systems. Its product line includes the Penguin C Mk 2 and Penguin C Mk 2.5 VTOL platforms, which are Group 2/3 and NATO Class I tactical UAS known for their exceptional endurance (up to 20+ hours) and long communication range (up to 180 kilometers/112 miles).

The VXE30 VTOL is another key offering, providing over 8 hours of flight endurance and a 160 kilometer (99 miles) range, making it a proven ISR platform. These systems are designed to be modular, rapidly deployable, and non-ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) where applicable, allowing for swift procurement and deployment by allied militaries.

Edge Autonomy also manufactures high-performance electro-optical/infrared gimbal payloads for various UAS, and provides robust power and energy systems, along with comprehensive operations, maintenance, and training services to ensure their systems meet mission objectives.
