UAE’s EDGE and Indra have agreed to explore local radar production in Brazil, marking a step toward building a domestic advanced sensor manufacturing base.
The memorandum of understanding, signed in São Paulo, brings together EDGE, Indra, and Brazilian defense firm SIATT to develop next-generation radar systems and establish a production ecosystem.
The companies said the plan is aimed at strengthening sovereign capability, expanding technology transfer, and supporting skilled industrial jobs.
Under the framework, Indra will contribute radar design and systems integration expertise, while SIATT provides local industrial capacity. EDGE brings global market access and manufacturing know-how, extending an existing partnership that has grown since 2023.
If implemented, the Brazil initiative would add Latin America to a widening network of EDGE–Indra industrial collaborations spanning Europe and the Middle East, with a focus on localized production rather than import-dependent procurement.
Brazil Expands Domestic Defense Efforts
Brazil has steadily increased efforts to strengthen its domestic defense manufacturing in recent years.
In March, the country unveiled its first domestically produced Gripen E fighter jet at Embraer’s Gavião Peixoto facility in São Paulo state.
Earlier, in September 2025, EDGE opened a new headquarters and factory for its subsidiary SIATT in São José dos Campos, with facilities for research, engineering, and production of systems such as the Mansup missile, Max 1.2 AC, and SisGAAz.
The site is expected to generate about 200 direct jobs and 600 indirect positions.
