EDGE and Baykar have signed an agreement to integrate Al Tariq precision-guided munitions into the Bayraktar Akinci combat drone.
The contract formalizes technical cooperation to adapt EDGE’s Al Tariq guided munitions for use on the Akinci platform.
Baykar will provide integration and demonstration support, enabling compatibility between the drone and the modular weapon system across different mission profiles, including day and night operations.
Al Tariq is a precision-guided munition family designed for extended-range strikes in varying weather conditions. Its integration with Akinci reflects a continued shift in unmanned vehicle development toward pairing airborne platforms with adaptable smart weapons.
Alongside the deal, the companies signed a separate agreement establishing a commercial framework that allows each side to market and offer the other’s systems.
Baykar CEO Haluk Bayraktar said that this move allows the company to offer a “much wider range of options and operational flexibility in the field.”
“With this strategic collaboration, we are enhancing the capabilities of our platforms while further strengthening our global partnerships and leading position in the defense industry,” he said.
Unmanned Combat Aircraft Partnerships Expand
Unmanned combat aircraft development has increasingly shifted toward multi-company partnerships that combine platforms, autonomy systems, and precision weapons.
In December 2025, Saab and Airbus said they are in talks to collaborate on unmanned combat aircraft technologies designed to support piloted fighter jets.
Earlier, in September 2025, Lockheed Martin and BAE Systems announced a strategic partnership to jointly develop a range of autonomous uncrewed air systems.
