RTX Taps TTM Technologies for $200M LTAMDS Radar Component Contract

RTX subsidiary Raytheon has awarded TTM Technologies a multi-year contract to supply electronic components for the US Army’s Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor (LTAMDS) radar program.

The deal could be worth up to $200 million over three years, depending on program requirements and production volumes.

TTM Technologies will provide radio frequency assemblies, electronic hardware, and printed circuit boards that support production of LTAMDS, Raytheon’s next-generation air and missile defense radar.

The companies previously worked together during the system’s development and production-readiness phases.

Supporting Production, Delivery Timelines

The agreement is designed to help stabilize supply chains and support accelerated delivery schedules as the LTAMDS program transitions into higher-rate production

The radar is designed to replace the legacy Patriot radar, offering 360-degree coverage and improved capability against advanced air and missile threats.

TTM is responsible for designing, manufacturing, and testing key elements of the radar’s Beam Forming Network, as well as producing printed wiring boards and specialized assemblies used in both the LTAMDS and related GhostEye radar systems.

These components are critical to the radar’s ability to detect, track, and discriminate among multiple targets simultaneously.

Program Background

The LTAMDS is a central element of the US Army’s Integrated Air and Missile Defense architecture and is intended to work alongside existing Patriot interceptors while enabling future capabilities.

Raytheon was selected as the prime contractor for the LTAMDS in 2019, and the radar has since completed multiple flight tests and operational demonstrations.
