German defense company Hensoldt has launched a service and innovation center in Ukraine to enhance support for the war-torn country.
The facility brings specialized expertise closer to the front lines, allowing Ukrainian forces to repair air defense radars and other advanced systems without sending equipment abroad.
It streamlines sustainment, training, and service processes, enabling fast reactivation of materiel to reduce downtime and maintain uninterrupted assistance for warfighters.
The hub also coordinates Hensoldt’s industrial capabilities with Kyiv’s dynamic defense innovation ecosystem, turning operational feedback into robust, deployable solutions.
The move builds on the Taufkirchen-based company’s existing supply of TRML-4D radars for the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ IRIS-T air defense system and SPEXER 2000 counter-unmanned aerial system platforms.
The firm secured a contract worth over $370 million in 2025 to deliver that package, ordered as part of the country’s broader radar capability modernization.
‘Reliable’ Support Center
Hensoldt noted that the facility is expected to enhance readiness, back Ukrainian self-sufficiency, and establish long-term cooperation with local military and industry.
“Availability is key,” Hensoldt CEO Oliver Dörre stated. “Ukraine demonstrates how quickly innovation can emerge under real-world conditions. Our task is to combine this speed with industrial scalability and system integration.”
“With the innovation hub, HENSOLDT is strengthening its role as a reliable partner to the Ukrainian armed forces and industry — with the clear aim of ensuring and further enhancing operational capability,” he added.
