Babcock Wins Contract to Maintain British Army Field Power Generators
Babcock International has secured a contract to maintain the British Army’s portable field power generators used to supply electricity to deployed forces.
The agreement could run for up to eight years and is valued at as much as 36 million pounds ($46 million).
Under the contract, Babcock will handle maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities for the generator fleet.
The company will also manage the equipment’s lifecycle using asset management systems intended to maintain availability and reliability across the force.
The work will be carried out by engineering and technical teams across three UK sites and is expected to create around 20 jobs.
Field Electrical Power Supplies
Known as Field Electrical Power Supplies (FEPS), the generators provide electricity for military systems during deployments and exercises.
They are used to power communications equipment, lighting systems, and other infrastructure required to sustain field operations where access to fixed power networks is unavailable.
Supporting Field Operations
Modern armed forces rely heavily on digital communications, command-and-control networks, and sensor systems, making portable power generation essential for operations in remote or austere environments.
The British Army deploys FEPS generators to support temporary bases, command posts, and forward operating locations.
Babcock already works with the British Army as part of long-term support arrangements for vehicles and other equipment.
Babcock provides maintenance and asset management services for several military platforms across the UK armed forces and is also involved in shipbuilding and training.
