DroneShield Clinches $3.28M Counter-Drone Deal From Australia

Australia has awarded DroneShield a 5-million Australian dollar ($3.28 million) contract to supply portable counter-drone systems to the Australian Defence Force.

The Sydney-based company provided its lightweight Drone Gun MKIV and RF Patrol system, which detects and jams enemy drones.

It has also indicated readiness to act as a Systems Integration Partner within Project LAND 156, a three-stage government initiative that involves multiple domestic and international vendors to fast-track the development and delivery of counter-drone systems to Canberra’s military.

Meanwhile, DroneShield’s award is part of the 16.9-million Australian dollar ($11.1 million) rollout under the second stage, which is about drone and counter-drone acquisitions.

The first stage focuses on a prime systems integrator, and “software as a service” on the third, Australian Defence Magazine reported

Company Chief Executive Oleg Vornik welcomed the opportunity and said, “This contract reflects the growing operational need for portable counter-drone capabilities and DroneShield’s continued role in delivering solutions aligned with Defence requirements.”

Other suppliers supporting Project LAND 156 include Axon Public Safety Australia, CACI, EPE, HiFraser, Highcom Technology, and Key Options.

Pioneer Computers Dream Industrial, Precision Technic Defence, Southtech Systems, and Steelrock Technologies also add to the list.

More counter-drone acquisitions and contracts will be announced in the coming months.

In June, DroneShield landed three contracts worth $40 million in total to supply handheld detection and counter-drone systems for a European military customer.
