SkyAlyne, the prime contractor for Canada’s Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) program, has selected IFS to supply a digital aviation maintenance and asset management platform in support of the Royal Canadian Air Force’s new training system.
Under the program, IFS will provide its Cloud for Aviation Maintenance platform to manage fleet maintenance, monitor airworthiness, and track aircraft availability across SkyAlyne’s training operations for the Canadian Department of National Defence.
The platform provides real-time maintenance data and digital workflows, including technical fault reporting and automated updates to aircraft records.
It enables collaboration between flight crews and maintenance teams through a digital logbook.
The system also supports integrated short- and long-term planning for personnel, facilities, maintenance equipment, and spare parts across multiple training bases.
Future Aircrew Training
The FAcT program was awarded to SkyAlyne in 2024 and introduces a restructured framework for military aircrew training in Canada.
It consolidates pilot and aircrew instruction, simulation, in-service support, and infrastructure development under a single contractual and operational structure, developed in coordination with the Royal Canadian Air Force.
The program covers the training of pilots, Air Combat Systems Officers, and Airborne Electronic Sensor Operators.
The training model uses multiple aircraft platforms and digital training environments aligned with evolving military aviation requirements.
Training is conducted using a mixed fleet that includes the Grob G 120TP, Pilatus PC-21, Airbus H135, Beechcraft King Air 260, and De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400.
The aircraft are assigned to different stages of the training pipeline based on mission profiles and expected operational roles within the Royal Canadian Air Force.
