UAE, Qatar Expand Defense Ties With EDGE-Barzan Joint Venture

EDGE Group and Barzan Holdings have agreed to form a joint venture that will develop advanced defense technologies, deepening industrial cooperation between the UAE and Qatar.

The deal was signed at the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference 2026, which opened in January in Doha.

The teaming will support the production of military equipment as national security needs increase in both countries. Sources said that the collaboration could also potentially cover missiles, autonomous systems, satellites, and sustainment services.

Financial terms and the venture’s location were not disclosed.

At the event, EDGE Group CEO Hamad Al Marar noted that the agreement reflects the company’s push to grow expertise through trusted regional partners.

“This joint venture with Barzan Holdings shows the importance EDGE places on trusted partnerships as we expand internationally,” Breaking Defense quoted Al Marar as saying.

“It establishes a framework to identify capability gaps across both portfolios and to jointly develop solutions.”
