Rheinmetall Opens Virginia Site to Strengthen US Defense Engagement
Rheinmetall is expanding its US footprint by leasing a facility for two of its subsidiaries in Fairfax County, Virginia.
Located in Merrifield, the nearly 10,000-square-foot (929-square-meter) hub will house American Rheinmetall Defense and American Rheinmetall Munitions, placing the German company closer to the Pentagon and Capitol Hill.
The move strengthens Rheinmetall’s engagement with US defense and other key government stakeholders, according to the company. It also signals the firm’s continued commitment to US growth, industrial capacity, and workforce development.
Rheinmetall is currently engaged in several modernization efforts for the US armed forces, with works incorporating long-range precision fires, combat vehicles, air and ground defense solutions, counter-unmanned aerial systems, and troop lethality enhancement.
American Rheinmetall Defense oversees the company’s US operations, while American Rheinmetall Munitions focuses on medium- and large-caliber ammunition, fuzing, propellants, and vehicle protection systems.
“The opening of our new Washington DC region office spaces underscores our rapid growth and committed investment in Rheinmetall’s US operations,” said Stephen Hedger, CEO of American Rheinmetall Defense.
“This move reinforces our brand presence, brings us even closer to key government stakeholders, improves our access to a wonderful human resource talent pool in the region, and strengthens our ability to support US defense strategy with speed, innovation, and an enduring commitment to being part of the fabric of the US defense industrial base.”
