KNDS, Elbit Systems Team Up to Sell EuroPULS to European Militaries
European defense company KNDS and Israel-based Elbit Systems Land have agreed to a joint venture (JV) to market the EuroPULS rocket artillery system to European forces.
The collaboration will be named EuroPULS GmbH, with a 50:50 partnership.
Elbit will contribute its PULS (Precise and Universal Launcher System), while KNDS will provide its advanced fire control technology and European customer base.
To be headquartered in Kassel, Germany, the JV aims to address Europe’s push for a non-HIMARS rocket artillery option, driven by long US delivery delays and prioritizing Ukraine’s access amid its ongoing war with Russia.
“This partnership positions us stronger to further enhance the market presence of our rocket artillery capabilities,” said Axel Scheibel, Chief Technology Officer at KNDS Deutschland.
Rocket Artillery Systems in Europe
EuroPULS is a wheeled, truck-mounted multiple rocket launcher firing guided rockets up to 300 kilometers (186 miles), based on Elbit’s proven PULS design but customized for Europe with local production following a teaming agreement between KNDS and Elbit in 2023.
The system can accommodate a wide variety of ammunition, such as the Accular 122mm and 160mm rockets, EXTRA rockets, and Predator Hawk rockets.
Within Europe, Germany and the Netherlands have ordered EuroPULS systems.
Meanwhile, countries like Estonia and Norway have turned to the South Korean K239 Chunmoo multiple launch rocket system, made by Hanwha Aerospace, as an alternative or supplementary system for the US-made HIMARS.
