Leonardo DRS Joins $25B US Defense Tech Acceleration Program

Leonardo DRS has been selected as one of 13 companies awarded a position under a 10-year, $25-billion contract vehicle designed to accelerate development and deployment of cutting-edge military technologies for the US.

The indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract allows awardees to compete for individual task orders as specific projects arise under the Advanced Technology Support Program V (ATSP5).

The scheme provides US defense agencies rapid access to engineering and technical expertise, supporting faster integration of advanced sensing, computing systems, and mission technologies.

Supporting Rapid Technology Fielding

Leonardo DRS, the US-based subsidiary of Italy’s Leonardo, may contribute to projects in quantum computing, nanoelectronics, additive manufacturing, and submicron-scale circuit design.

Company CEO John Baylouny said the award expands access for government customers to the firm’s engineering capabilities.

“As a company built around rapid delivery of trusted advanced technologies, we are excited and proud to be one of the few awardees of this contract,” Baylouny said.

“This is an important contract vehicle that will provide another avenue for customers to swiftly access DRS’s advanced technologies and engineering solutions.”

While the award does not guarantee specific funding, it positions Leonardo DRS to compete for a share of the Pentagon’s largest tech acceleration program.

Previous awardees include Northrop Grumman, HII, and V2X.
