Elbit Wins $275 Million to Protect Asia-Pacific Helicopters

Elbit Systems has secured contracts worth roughly $275 million to supply advanced electronic warfare and missile self-protection systems for a helicopter platform in the Asia-Pacific region.

Spanning five years, the agreements include the company’s Direct Infra-Red Counter-Measure (DIRCM) system, designed to detect and neutralize incoming missile threats while enhancing overall aircraft survivability and mission effectiveness.

Under the deal, Elbit will deliver a complete airborne self-protection suite combining electronic sensing, signal processing, and automated countermeasures.

The Mini-MUSIC DIRCM system, tailored for small and medium rotary and fixed-wing aircraft, uses laser-based tracking to disrupt missile threats, building on hundreds of thousands of operational flight hours across global military operations.

According to the company, the systems will be customized for the customer’s operational needs, providing robust protection in complex combat scenarios.

Elbit’s Presence in Southeast Asia

Elbit Systems has steadily expanded its footprint across Southeast Asia in recent years.

The Republic of Singapore Air Force selected Elbit’s Hermes 900 unmanned aerial vehicles in 2025 to replace its aging Hermes 450 fleet under its SAF2040 modernization plan.

Singapore joins a growing list of more than 20 countries worldwide operating the Hermes 900 platform.

In Thailand, Elbit technology has been integral to indigenous artillery developments. The Royal Thai Army’s D11A multi‑purpose multiple‑rocket launcher vehicle, a local adaptation of Israel’s PULS system developed in collaboration with Elbit Systems, was delivered for evaluation in August 2024 and is part of Thailand’s effort to enhance long‑range strike and rocket artillery capabilities.
