US Air Force Taps GDIT for Base Network Revamp in Pacific

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) has signed a $131-million contract to support communication network upgrades across US Air Force installations.

This task order is part of the $8.75-billion Base Infrastructure Modernization effort, a long-term program to establish an improved, secure communication layer throughout the entire US Air and Space Force bases internationally.

GDIT’s work includes the provision of wired and wireless technologies at military sites in the Pacific, all of which are expected to bolster connectivity, cybersecurity, interoperability, and data readiness between troops and leaders.

The company is assigned for a one-year base period and four option years to assist the initiative.

“Our national security depends on the ability to connect, share information and act without delay,” said Brian Sheridan, senior vice president for defense at GDIT.

“We look forward to delivering a next-generation network infrastructure to our Pacific forces so they can communicate, operate and respond with speed and precision on the battlefield.”

Contract With CACI

The announcement follows a similar Base Infrastructure Modernization deal awarded to Virginia-based defense contractor CACI International earlier this month.

For that separate task order, the firm will assist in “enterprise-level network infrastructure upgrades” for the US Space Force.

It encompasses base area networks across 14 military locations for five years, with services valued at $212 million.
