Naval Group Extends Egyptian Fleet Support
Naval Group has renewed its in-service support contract with the Egyptian Navy, ensuring maintenance and operational readiness for seven key vessels over the next five years.
Under the extension, Naval Group engineers and technicians will maintain the multi-mission FREMM frigate Tahya Misr, the two Egyptian Landing Helicopter Docks (E-LHD) Gamal Abdel Nasser and Anwar El Sadat, and four Gowind corvettes: El Fateh, Port Said, El Moez, and Al Ismailia.
The agreement builds on a decade-long collaboration between the French shipbuilder and the Egyptian Navy. It also reinforces Naval Group’s local presence, including its subsidiary in Alexandria opened in 2018.
The company aims to expand opportunities for Egyptian employees and work with local suppliers, integrating them into ship maintenance operations.
Naval Group, Egyptian Navy Partnership
Beyond in-service support, Naval Group has partnered with the Egyptian Navy on broader modernization and capability projects.
In 2017, it delivered the Tahya Misr FREMM frigate, its most advanced multi-mission surface combatant, capable of anti-submarine, anti-air, and anti-surface operations.
The Egyptian Navy also benefited from technology transfer programs for the locally built Gowind corvettes, strengthening Egypt’s shipbuilding expertise.
Additionally, Naval Group has provided training programs for Egyptian naval personnel and collaborated on integrated logistics solutions to ensure long-term fleet sustainability.
