BAE Subsidiary to Deliver Virtual Wargaming Simulator for Canadian Army
BAE Systems segment Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim) has received an enterprise licensing contract to provide its flagship Digital Virtual Trainer (DVT) for the Canadian Army.
DVT is a wargaming package that delivers immersive mission preparation, enabling troops to strategize, rehearse, perform, and evaluate operations in realistic virtual environments.
The suite supports both first-person training and large-scale collective exercises, giving units flexible options to train anywhere across the world.
The simulator utilizes BISim’s proven Virtual Battlespace 4 whole-earth software and Blue IG image generator, delivering high visual effects and seamless integration with legacy simulation systems.
DVT also incorporates TerraTools Platinum, an advanced terrain-generation program that allows rapid creation and editing of practice maps mirroring real-world Geographic Information System data.
The contract will run for five years, with an optional three-year extension for sustainment support.
“We’re proud to support the Canadian Army’s vision for modern, flexible training with a proven, battle-tested virtual platform,” BISim Chief Product Officer Pete Morrison stated.
“Whether rehearsing for rural manoeuvres or complex urban operations, the Canadian Army can train with confidence on highly authentic virtual terrains.”
International Support
BISim’s contract with the Canadian government follows similar projects supporting allied forces’ virtual training capabilities.
Recently, the company supplied Virtual Battlespace 4 to the US Army in support of its ongoing Games for Training initiative.
Beyond North America, BISim has collaborated on military simulation projects with Germany, the UK, New Zealand, and NATO. Some of these efforts are centered on dismounted missions, armored vehicle control, and weapon systems deployment.
