General Dynamics to Bolster Defense at US Army Bases

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) has signed a $580-million deal to maintain the security and readiness of US Army bases.

This task order encompasses Integrated Base Defense Sustainment Support tasks required to preserve the operational availability of radars, sensors, and cameras that protect installations, their personnel, and infrastructure.

These perception systems are critical to inhibit or counter unauthorized access and surveillance, malicious unmanned aerial system activities, and cyberattacks.

During this project, the company will apply its proprietary Cove AI Ops digital accelerator technology, which utilizes machine learning and advanced analytics to scan large datasets, monitor patterns, and inform well-informed decision-making processes.

Work for the contract will proceed for one year and could extend for four additional years.

“The Army relies on resilient, always-ready defense systems to protect its soldiers and operations around the world,” GDIT Defense SVP Brian Sheridan stated

“We are deeply invested in this mission, and we look forward to delivering innovative technology solutions that ensure these crucial systems operate at peak performance at all times.”

Recent Army Support Projects

GDIT’s announcement follows other mission-critical services for the US Army, with support ranging from digital work to military training supervision.

Last year, the firm secured over $400 million in contracts to supply mission training services for approximately 500,000 troops.

In 2023, GDIT was awarded a deal to assist the learning of entry and graduate-level students at the Army’s flight school in Alabama.

The company was also involved in cyber operations in support of the army national guard enterprise network, which coordinates information across 124,000 military and defense users in 3,000 locations.
