Brunswick to Support Textron TSUNAMI USV Program for US Navy Ops

Brunswick Corporation is providing marine systems for Textron Systems’ TSUNAMI uncrewed surface vessel program under a Defense Innovation Unit contract supporting US Navy operations

The Pentagon’s Defense Innovation Unit, which focuses on accelerating the adoption of commercial technologies for military use, selected the platform as part of efforts to expand autonomous maritime capabilities.

Multiple TSUNAMI vessels recently took part in the US Navy’s Fleet Experimentation exercise in Key West, Florida, and are expected to support a three-month operational deployment with US Southern Command and the navy.

TSUNAMI is a small uncrewed surface vessel developed to meet demand for lower-cost, rapidly deployable autonomous maritime systems that can be produced at scale.

The platform integrates Textron Systems’ autonomous navigation and mission technologies with commercially available marine hardware supplied by Brunswick Corporation, including hulls, propulsion, and onboard electronics.

TSUNAMI Vessel

TSUNAMI is available in multiple configurations ranging from 21 to 38 feet (6.4 to 11.5 meters), allowing the platform to be adapted for different operational roles.

The vessel can carry mission payloads of up to 5,214 pounds (2,365 kilograms) and reach speeds above 50 knots (93 kilometers/58 miles per hour).

Its architecture is modular, allowing different configurations depending on mission requirements.

The use of commercially established components is also intended to reduce supply chain constraints and support faster, larger-scale manufacturing compared with traditional bespoke military platforms.
