Lockheed Martin Unveils Lithuania’s First HIMARS Launchers

Lockheed Martin, together with Lithuania’s Ministry of National Defence, has unveiled Lithuania’s first HIMARS launchers at the US company’s Camden site in Arkansas.

Lithuanian Vice-Minister of National Defence Vitalija Zumerienė and Lockheed Martin VP of Tactical Missiles Gaylia Campbell signed a joint statement during the ceremony to deepen defense, security, and industrial cooperation.

The ceremony comes after the US defense contractor established a branch in Lithuania in March to strengthen its presence in the Baltic region, as Estonia and Latvia are also in the process of acquiring HIMARS.

“The signed joint statement with Lockheed Martin, along with the establishment of its entity in Lithuania, represents not only a symbolic step but a tangible opportunity for closer cooperation with Lithuanian institutions, businesses, and the scientific community,” Zumerienė said.

HIMARS Order

Lithuania, part of NATO’s eastern flank, procured eight HIMARS launchers for $495 million in a contract signed in December 2022.

In April 2026, Vilnius signed a deal for an additional HIMARS battery for $280 million.

HIMARS is a mobile artillery platform capable of carrying a six-pack of GMLRS rockets, two PrSM missiles, or one ATACMS missile.

It can engage targets up to 300 kilometers (186 miles) away and at an extended range beyond 499 kilometers (310 miles), depending on the munition, and scoot away quickly to avoid enemy counterattacks.

Full operational capability is expected by 2027.
