Anduril Completes Deliveries of Altius Loitering Munitions to Taiwan
US defense contractor Anduril has completed the full delivery of Altius 600M loitering munitions to Taiwan.
Washington cleared a foreign military sale of 291 Altius 600Ms and related equipment in June 2024. Deliveries began in August 2025 and were declared completed seven months later, as per Liberty Times, citing the Taiwanese defense ministry.
As Taipei’s main defense supplier, the US is also set to deliver other weapons and equipment this year, including M1A2T Abrams main battle tanks, High Mobility Rocket Artillery Systems (HIMARS), and Harpoon coastal defense systems.
These measures are part of Taiwan’s efforts to strengthen its defenses amid the threat of a potential Chinese invasion, as Beijing has not ruled out using force to achieve reunification.
Altius 600M
The Altius is a 27-pound (12-kilogram) kamikaze drone, including a modular payload capacity of up to 3 kilograms (6.6 pounds) that can accommodate warheads or modules for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, as well as electronic warfare.
It offers an operational range of roughly 440 kilometers (248 miles) and an endurance of up to four hours.
Taiwanese Defense
To address the looming Chinese threat, Taiwan plans to scale defense spending to around $40 billion over the next eight years.
In 2025, the country revealed plans to create its first-ever army drone units, incorporated drone operations into its soldier training program, and unveiled a three-tier drone strategy to boost defense readiness.
Taipei is also advancing its “T-Dome” layered air defense architecture, expecting high combat readiness by 2027 and full, resilient defense capabilities by 2033.
