Denmark Picks BAE Systems’ OneArc to Modernize Virtual Army Training
The Danish Army is upgrading its enterprise virtual training and simulation environment with new software and services from BAE Systems’ specialized business unit, OneArc.
Under a seven-year agreement, Denmark will receive several simulation tools, including VBS4 for battlefield simulation, VBS Builder Edition for creating custom training scenarios, Blue IG for generating 3D visuals, and TerraTools Platinum for building detailed virtual terrain.
The deal includes OneArc providing ongoing software maintenance and on-site training services.
Moreover, the upgrade enables Copenhagen to align its simulation architecture with leading NATO and Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO) partners, comprising Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.
With virtual rehearsals helping the military to save time and resources before real-life application, “Denmark’s selection of OneArc’s suite of products represents a major investment in future-ready synthetic training,” said OneArc President Rahul C. Thakkar.
“We are honored to continue supporting Denmark’s vision for a more interconnected, scalable, and effective virtual training ecosystem,” he added.

VBS4
The VBS4 provides a desktop-based virtual environment for tactical military training, experimentation, and mission rehearsal.
It can be accessed by troops stationed anywhere in the world and can have its terrain modified with intuitive editing tools that do not require advanced geospatial expertise.
Scenarios can be replayed in 2D or 3D from any viewpoint, with performance data automatically recorded and exportable for use in external training management tools.
Other countries that use the VBS4 include Australia, Italy, New Zealand, and the US.
