Indra, ELT Group Join Forces on Multi‑Domain Defense Tech

Indra Group and ELT Group have signed a strategic framework agreement to accelerate collaboration on multi‑domain defense technologies, signaling a broader push for European technological sovereignty.

Under the partnership, the Spanish defense firm and the Italian electromagnetic spectrum specialist will work together across land, space, and uncrewed aerial vehicle domains.

The agreement creates a common framework for developing integrated systems and solutions that combine Indra’s systems integration, radar, electronic warfare, and cyberdefense expertise with ELT’s Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations technologies, including signals intelligence and spectrum monitoring.

EM spectrum control and protection is a key enabler of modern military operations, and combining capabilities is central to advancing operational advantage against emerging threats. Indra has highlighted the importance of sovereign, interoperable technologies for Europe’s strategic autonomy and security.

“The challenges we face, the technological strength outside Europe and NATO blocks push us towards valuable partnerships,” ELT Group chief executive officer Domitilla Benigni said.

Indra’s Partnerships for Defense

Over the past two years, Indra has actively pursued industrial collaborations to broaden its reach in defense technology.

In February 2025, the firm signed a memorandum of understanding with Katim, a UAE‑based cybersecurity and ultra‑secure communications firm, to jointly market advanced encrypted mobile communications solutions tailored for NATO and allied government customers.

By March 2025, Indra and Rheinmetall Electronics continued their successful cooperation with a renewed agreement focused on upgrading the Leopard 2E main battle tank’s combat system, including fire control and command‑and‑control technologies for Spanish and NATO user fleets.

More recently, in November 2025, Indra and EDGE Group announced plans to develop and manufacture advanced systems, including loitering munitions and smart weapons, under a contemplated joint venture in Spain that would serve European and international defense programs.

This initiative follows earlier collaboration between the two groups on radar and air defense technologies.
