Elbit Lands $277 Million Deal for Unmanned Turrets, Munitions

Elbit Systems has been awarded a contract by an undisclosed international customer for the supply of UT30 MK2 remotely operated turrets and associated munitions, with an aggregate contract value of approximately $277 million.

According to the Israeli defense firm, the contract will be executed over a three-year period.

“We are proud to be selected once again by a valued international customer,” President and CEO of Elbit Systems Bezhalel (Butzi) Machlis said.

“These contracts reflect the customer’s confidence in our advanced land systems and munitions technologies and further demonstrate our ability to deliver high performance, operational solutions to armed forces worldwide.”

The latest award follows an earlier order placed in April by General Dynamics European Land Systems, which selected the UT30 MK2 turret to equip ASCOD armored fighting vehicles for an undisclosed NATO member state.

Previously, Romania ordered the UT30 MK2 system in March 2023 for integration onto its Piranha V armored personnel carriers.

UT30 MK2 Turret

The UT30 MK2 is a configurable manned or unmanned turret designed to enhance the firepower of armored personnel carriers while preserving crew safety.

Its modular, open-architecture design enables both remote and crewed configurations, allows rapid conversion between the two, and supports the integration of multiple missile and sighting options.

The MK2 is armed with an Mk44 Bushmaster II 30mm autocannon, complemented by a coaxial 7.62mm machine gun and anti-tank guided missiles. It also features independent gunner and commander sights and provides STANAG 4569 Level 4 ballistic protection.
