Anduril Teams Up With GKN Aerospace for British Army’s Project NYX
Anduril UK has partnered with GKN Aerospace to support the British Army’s Project NYX, a program focused on advanced autonomous land systems.
The agreement designates GKN Aerospace as Anduril’s airframe manufacturing and electrical integration partner, with collaboration also extending to the Isle of Wight airframe production facility.
This partnership is part of a broader network of over 100 suppliers supporting Project NYX, contributing to roughly 50,000 jobs across the UK industrial base.
Under the new collaboration, GKN Aerospace will supply airframe components and integrate electrical systems for Project NYX platforms, while Anduril leads overall system integration.
The partnership also involves Archer Aviation, whose expertise in eVTOL aircraft and hybrid propulsion will complement Project NYX requirements.
Rich Drake, Managing Director of Anduril UK, said the collaboration demonstrates a commitment to delivering “sovereign solutions” to the Ministry of Defence while leveraging the full breadth of UK engineering talent.
Project NYX’s Industrial Ecosystem
Several companies beyond Anduril and GKN Aerospace are now contributing to Project NYX and its associated autonomous systems ecosystem, creating a clearer picture of the industrial base behind the program.
Archer Aviation is also participating through a partnership with Anduril and GKN, bringing its eVTOL aircraft expertise to explore hybrid propulsion and advanced rotorcraft designs to support the British Army’s future Autonomous Collaborative Platform requirements.
Further down the supply chain, companies such as Atom Performance Technologies, Flarebright, Olsen Actuators, and Isembard are among the more than one hundred UK firms engaged in Project NYX.
Their work ranges from propulsion components to micro‑unmanned aerial vehicle development, actuators, embedded systems, and advanced manufacturing support.
