The British Army’s artillery arm has received its first tranche of ground-based surveillance radar systems from Elbit Systems UK, following successful live-fire trials in early 2025.
The initial delivery comprised 55 units and associated support equipment, with the remaining systems scheduled to arrive later this year.
London ordered 90 of the portable radars in 2023, with an option for 40 more. The systems were customized to meet British military requirements, built on an open architecture, and manufactured entirely in the UK and Europe.

Used for Surveillance, FoS Correction
Elbit’s ground-based surveillance radar is designed to perform two primary functions — surveillance and fall of shot (FoS) correction — improving situational awareness and troop survivability.
As a surveillance system, it detects, tracks, and classifies personnel, vehicles, helicopters, and drones, providing data on friendly movements as well as early warning of potential threats.
Its FoS correction capability supports mortar and artillery units by automatically and accurately identifying impact points, enabling crews to adjust fire rapidly and with precision.
“The programme is a great example of our Bristol team working with the customer to develop a bespoke capability that meets the end users’ requirements now and into the future,” said Elbit Systems UK CEO Martin Fausset.
