Ukraine Defense Firms See Surge in Foreign Partnership Offers

Ukraine’s defense companies are seeing a surge in foreign partnership offers as battlefield-tested technology attracts international demand.

An April 2026 poll by Tech Forces in UA found that 90 percent of 42 surveyed firms received cooperation requests in early 2026, with interest led by the US (36 percent), Germany (29 percent), and Denmark (21 percent). The group represents leading manufacturers of innovative weapons.

Export remains a priority for most firms, with 79 percent saying they aim to sell products abroad.

At the same time, deeper integration is gaining traction. About 64 percent are exploring joint ventures, while 43 percent remain open to direct technology exports, signaling a move beyond simple sales toward long-term industrial partnerships.

This aligns with President Volodymyr Zelensky’s push to expand Ukraine’s defense partnerships beyond Europe.

In March, he proposed an exchange with Gulf states combining cooperation on air defense, drones, and battlefield technologies in return for strategic and industrial support amid the Middle East conflict.

Recent deals show how that demand is translating into concrete industrial cooperation.

In February, Auterion and Ukraine’s Airlogix formed a joint venture to produce AI-guided drones for Ukraine and allied countries. Airlogix will supply its combat-tested platforms, while Auterion will provide software for AI guidance, autonomous navigation, and electronic warfare resilience.

In November 2025, Ukrainian firm Praktika signed an agreement with Spain’s Tecnove and Escribano Mechanical & Engineering to jointly produce armored vehicles in Spain.

The project marks Praktika’s first armored vehicle co-production in the EU and involves the League of Defense Enterprises of Ukraine, which represents more than 75 private companies.

Ukraine’s largest arms manufacturer, the Ukrainian Defense Industry, signed an agreement with US firm LeVanta Tech in October 2025 to develop a drone capable of both flight and water operations.
