Poland is set to localize advanced air defense missile production after signing a deal to build a Common Anti-Air Modular Missile – Extended Range (CAMM-ER) service and manufacturing center in Zielonka.
The agreement will fund the construction of a new production and service hub at Military Electronic Works, part of the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), as Warsaw accelerates efforts to strengthen its domestic defense industry.
The facility will support the assembly, servicing, and eventual production of CAMM-ER medium-range air defense missiles, a key component of the country’s NAREW air defense program.
Backed by an investment of 129.4 million Polish złoty ($34.6 million), the project includes a production hall, warehouses with protective infrastructure, and expanded logistics capacity. Construction is expected to be completed by 2028.
Once operational, the site will help equip 23 NAREW batteries with more than 1,000 missiles, significantly boosting Poland’s air and missile defense capabilities.
The effort also involves technology transfer in partnership with MBDA, allowing local teams to handle component production, final assembly, and testing.
Poland Expands Defense Manufacturing Base
Poland has steadily ramped up domestic defense production in recent years, with several facilities launched or expanded to support large-scale modernization programs.
In September 2025, PGZ and BAE Systems announced a partnership to build a new 155mm artillery shell production facility in Poland, with construction expected to start in 2025 and conclude by 2027 or 2028.
L3Harris Technologies began producing electro-optical/infrared sensor systems in Katowice in August 2025, supplying intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance sensors for military platforms and supporting multi-domain military operations throughout Europe.
Earlier, in June 2024, Leonardo opened a production line for AW149 helicopters at its PZL-Świdnik facility in southeastern Poland. This line is producing aircraft for the Polish Armed Forces, marking a significant expansion of domestic aerospace manufacturing.
