US Taps Tetra Tech to Upgrade Global Military Supply Chain
The US Defense Logistics Agency has awarded Tetra Tech a $14-million contract to modernize the IT backbone of its global supply chain.
Under the three-year task order, the California firm will support upgrades to both information technology and operational technology systems that manage military logistics, including inventory, handling, and distribution.
The work falls under the J6 Enterprise Technology Services 2.0 contract and continues the company’s support for DLA’s automated material handling systems, which dates back to 2019.
Efforts will focus on sustaining and modernizing Automated Material Handling Equipment while improving cybersecurity across logistics infrastructure.
Tetra Tech will also help introduce new tools such as augmented reality and voice-enabled technologies, alongside supporting DLA’s transition to Warehouse Execution Systems designed to streamline warehouse operations.
Modernizing US Defense Logistics
Recent contracts show a broader push across the US military to modernize logistics and strengthen supply chains.
In September 2024, KBR won an estimated $230-million contract to modernize information systems supporting Naval Air Systems Command logistics programs, including digital infrastructure related to readiness and fleet maintenance.
Logistics improvements also extend to transportation and freight operations.
In July 2024, Crowley secured a $2.3-billion, seven‑year award from the US Transportation Command to continue defense freight transportation services, covering surface transport, cross‑docking, and warehousing that supports military supply movements.
Longer‑term modernization contracts have focused on enhancing enterprise logistics and hardware support.
For example, in September 2023, Leidos was awarded a next‑generation contract worth up to $7.9 billion to provide rapid procurement and IT hardware solutions for the US Army.
This was part of efforts to improve supply chain visibility, resilience, and digital integration across mission IT systems.
In addition, the Defense Logistics Agency’s 2025 white paper on modernization emphasized transforming distribution networks to adapt to contested operations, highlighting the agency’s evolving role in logistical planning and execution to meet future mission needs.
