Kopin Lands $3.6M Helmet-Mounted Display Order for European Helicopter Platform
Kopin Corporation has secured a $3.6-million order for its helmet-mounted display (HMD) systems, intended for integration on an undisclosed European rotary-wing military aircraft platform.
Deliveries under the multi-year contract are scheduled to begin in 2026 and continue over a five-year period.
The company said its total order book for pilot HMD systems now exceeds $10 million.
Enhancing Pilot Situational Awareness
The HMD projects flight symbology, navigation cues, aircraft status, and weapons data directly into the pilot’s line of sight.
By reducing the need to look down at cockpit instruments, the system is designed to improve situational awareness and lower pilot workload during complex operations.
Helmet-mounted displays are increasingly standard in modern military aviation, particularly for helicopters operating at low altitude in high-threat environments.
The systems provide real-time flight and mission data to support navigation, targeting, and threat detection without diverting visual attention.
HMD Technology
Over the past decade, HMD technology has advanced in brightness, resolution, and integration, enabling safer and more effective mission execution.
European militaries have been investing in upgraded avionics and pilot interface systems to modernize rotary-wing fleets and maintain interoperability with allied forces.
“Kopin’s technologies continue to be integrated into next-generation aviation platforms, providing pilots with critical information in operationally demanding environments,” said Iwan Dodd, SVP of Business Development at Kopin.
