Rheinmetall Unveils Lighter Combat Helmet, Modular Body Armor System
Rheinmetall has introduced a new combat helmet alongside a modular body armor system, expanding its portfolio of protection equipment for military users.
The gear reduces weight, improves fit, and allows troops to adjust protection levels and configurations for various operational environments.
Rheinmetall is presenting the newly developed body armor system for military use at the Enforce Tac 2026 trade fair in Nuremberg, Germany.
The new helmet builds on the company’s established role as NATO supplier, following the recent delivery of hundreds of thousands of units under German procurement programs.
Combat Helmet
Rheinmetall’s new helmet uses high-performance polyethylene composite materials to cut weight while maintaining ballistic protection standards.
Available in high-cut and full-cut versions, it allows units to choose between increased coverage and better compatibility with headsets and other accessories.
A redesigned retention system and internal padding aim to improve stability and comfort during extended wear.
Updated mounting rails and attachment points are intended to support night-vision devices and other helmet-mounted equipment better, while removing the need for a separate hairnet simplifies integration with additional gear.

Modular Body Armor System
The body armor system is configurable and can be adapted to mission requirements and specific roles.
Soft ballistic panels cover the front, back, and abdomen, while optional hard plates provide additional protection against higher-caliber threats.
Extra components protect the neck, shoulders, upper arms, and thighs from stabs and fragmentation.
The system includes a chest rig, pouches, and transport bags, allowing soldiers to carry ammunition and equipment along with protective elements.
