BAE, SURVICE Engineering Collaborate on Small Tactical Drones

British defense company BAE Systems’ FalconWorks division and US firm SURVICE Engineering are joining forces to explore and develop small, tactical uncrewed air systems (UAS).

Under the signed framework deal, FalconWorks will work with the Maryland-based company, which specializes in enhancing the survivability and effectiveness of a range of military platforms, including uncrewed systems.

The agreement builds on SURVICE’s existing 2015 deal with BAE Systems’ Malloy Aeronautics, in which Malloy supplies the T-150 all-electric, uncrewed logistics platform to SURVICE.

Malloy Aeronautics was later acquired by BAE Systems in 2024 and integrated into FalconWorks, which is BAE’s Air Sector research and technology division focused on autonomous systems and advanced robotics.

Meanwhile, SURVICE has been providing services to the US Marine Corps and US Army, including fielding the TRV-150 — derived from the T-150 — and demonstrating it for a variety of operations, including mine clearing, obscurant deployment, and weaponization.

In July 2025, the TRV-150 successfully fired rockets equipped with the advanced precision kill weapon system and struck both air and ground targets in trials at the US Army Dugway Proving Ground in Utah.

SURVICE Engineering President Greg Thompson described the deal with BAE Systems’ FalconWorks as a “logical next step to continue advancing UAS technologies and use cases and we are excited to expand our relationship across the BAE FalconWorks portfolio and look forward to many more successes.”
