Echodyne Expands Radar Production With New Washington Facility

US radar technology company Echodyne has announced plans to open a new manufacturing and warehouse facility aimed at increasing production capacity to meet rising demand for its radar systems.

The new site, located in Washington State near the company’s headquarters, will span approximately 86,350 square feet (8,022 square meters).

The facility is designed to support the production and shipment of more than 30,000 radar units annually once fully operational, the firm said.

This expansion comes as militaries, government agencies, and commercial operators increasingly invest in radar-based surveillance to address the growing use of uncrewed systems and the need for persistent situational awareness.

The company said the facility will support a modular manufacturing model, allowing production to be adjusted based on demand across different radar products and enable the introduction of new systems without significant reconfiguration.

Radar Innovation

Echodyne’s radars are used in a range of applications, including counter-drone, force protection, border monitoring, and beyond visual line of sight operations.

Such use cases have expanded rapidly in recent years as governments seek improved detection and tracking of small, low-flying aircraft that are difficult for traditional radar systems to identify.

At the core of Echodyne’s product line is its metamaterials electronically scanned array technology

Unlike conventional mechanically scanned radars, electronically scanned arrays steer radar beams electronically, allowing faster updates and improved tracking performance.

Echodyne’s approach uses metamaterials to achieve these capabilities in smaller, solid-state systems that are intended to be more scalable and suitable for export to international partners.
