LightPath Secures $9.6M Contract for Cooled Infrared Cameras
LightPath Technologies has signed a $9.6-million contract to supply cooled infrared cameras for an existing client in support of defense and security efforts.
Solutions ordered incorporate built-in coolers to chill components, concealing the devices’ overall thermal signature while maintaining imaging performance in fast-paced operations.
The Orlando-based company said that its products are tailored for “all-weather security and surveillance,” while offering “reliability and ease of use.”
The firm will produce the packages at its centers in Florida and New Hampshire, with expected shipments scheduled through 2026.
“This significant repeat order from an existing customer underscores the growing demand for our advanced cooled infrared camera systems,” said Sam Rubin, President and Chief Executive Officer of LightPath.
“Our ability to secure orders of this magnitude demonstrates the quality and reliability of our products as well as our ability to supply them, and the production split between our Florida and New Hampshire facilities highlights our expanding domestic manufacturing footprint.”
Support From New Subsidiary
LightPath’s award comes after its acquisition of G5 Infrared in February, expanding the thermal imaging and optics portfolio for tactical applications.
G5 was founded in 2011 in Hudson, New Hampshire, and was bought for $27 million under a cash-plus-stock agreement.
It recorded approximately $15 million in profits in fiscal 2024, with earnings expected to grow in the coming years.
“G5’s revenue continues to be driven by established multi-year contracts and multiple programs of record in shipboard long-range surveillance, border security, and counter-[drone] systems, as well as recurring federal, naval, and law enforcement programs,” Rubin stated.
“We look forward to delivering on this order…and continuing to expand our relationships with our valued defense customers as they seek superior products with secure domestic supply chains.
