The US Army has awarded Oshkosh Defense an additional $25-million contract to supply more FMTV A2 Low-Velocity Airdrop (LVAD) cargo vehicles and kits.
Under the award, Oshkosh will deliver additional 4×4 FMTV A2 LVAD vehicles, building on a recent contract for 97 vehicles and augmenting a total fleet that stands at 797 ordered units to date.
Designed to be parachuted from aircraft directly into austere or contested terrain, the LVAD variant combines tactical mobility with airdrop delivery, allowing supplies and mission-ready vehicles to arrive simultaneously without relying on vulnerable ground convoys.
Instead of simply transporting cargo, the FMTV A2 LVAD is engineered to sustain forward-deployed units during initial entry operations, enabling airborne and rapid-deployment forces to improve operational reach and resilience.
Pat Williams, Oshkosh Defense chief programs officer, said the award underscores sustained army demand for the capability in support of evolving force requirements.
US Taps Oshkosh Defense
Over the past two years, Oshkosh Defense has continued to secure major US defense contracts across tactical mobility, weapon carriers, and specialized logistics platforms that reflect broader army modernization priorities.
In June 2025, the US Army awarded Oshkosh a $27.6-million contract for a new batch of Medium Equipment Trailers. The deal covers 55 trailers and falls under a five-year agreement for the delivery of up to 557 units.
By October 2025, Oshkosh won a $89-million contract to build Palletized Load System A2 trucks for the US Army.
More recently, in January 2026, the US Army gave Oshkosh a $35-million contract for Common Bridge Transporters.
