Shield AI, ST Engineering Explore Hivemind Autonomy Software Integration
US-based Shield AI and Singapore’s ST Engineering have signed an agreement to explore the integration of Shield AI’s Hivemind autonomy software into selected ST Engineering platforms.
Signed at the Singapore Airshow, the collaboration will focus on evaluating autonomy performance through system integration and operational demonstrations.
Hivemind is an AI-based technology that enables platforms to operate without continuous human control, supporting onboard sensing, decision-making, and adaptive mission execution.
It allows systems to reroute in real-time, avoid threats, and operate in environments where GPS or communications are degraded.
“The ability to develop and field intelligent systems at speed and scale is becoming central to how nations build and sustain defense capability, especially as they seek to deter threats without relying on large standing forces,” explained Brandon Tseng, Shield AI co-founder and president.
Under the agreement, ST Engineering will also evaluate the Hivemind software development kit, which enables users to design, test, and deploy their own mission autonomy software across different platforms.
Lee Shiang Long, group chief tech and digital officer at ST Engineering, said that the collaboration “creates new opportunities to co-develop future-ready capabilities that can scale across our defense, public security, and potentially commercial applications.”
Hivemind Integration Programs
Hivemind has already been integrated and tested across multiple unmanned systems through collaborations in the US and internationally.
Last month, India selected Hivemind for integration into the V-BAT platform as part of a broader collaboration with Shield AI.
In November 2025, HII and Shield AI completed a dual-autonomy integration test incorporating Hivemind aboard the ROMULUS unmanned surface vessel, demonstrating coordinated autonomous operation.
During the same month, Shield AI and European aerospace company Destinus announced a partnership to integrate Hivemind across Destinus’ aerial platforms.
