Embraer has signed a service agreement to provide maintenance, logistical, and technical support for the Hungarian Air Force’s C‑390 Millennium transport fleet.
Under the contract, Embraer will use its European support network to sustain Hungary’s two C-390 aircraft. The country is the second NATO nation to field the C-390.
Rather than focusing solely on transport, the C-390 Millennium is configured to perform a wide range of tasks including medical evacuation, humanitarian aid, search and rescue, cargo and troop transport, precision airdrops, paratrooper operations, and air‑to‑air refueling.
Hungary’s aircraft is also the first in the world to feature a modular roll‑on/roll‑off medical intensive care unit, allowing rapid reconfiguration between missions.
Embraer said the service agreement builds on the aircraft’s high reliability. Since its entry into service, the first C-390 has logged a mission completion rate above 99 percent.
Support services are aimed at sustaining this performance as the Hungarian Air Force expands the aircraft’s operational tempo and mission set.
Embraer’s Footprint in Hungary
Embraer’s involvement with Hungary dates back several years and includes key procurement and support milestones.
In November 2020, the Hungarian government signed a contract with Embraer to acquire two C-390 Millennium aircraft in air‑to‑air refueling configuration, including pilot and technician training, logistical support, and other service.
By September 2024, Hungary welcomed its first Embraer C-390 Millennium transport to Kecskemét Air Base, where it joined earlier air mobility assets and began supporting a range of missions, including air‑to‑air refueling for its Saab Gripen fighter jets.
With the second C-390 delivered in November 2025, Hungary became the first C-390 operator worldwide to complete delivery of its contracted aircraft.
“We are committed to building a long-term relationship that ensures sustained operational excellence through comprehensive support services,” Douglas Lobo, Embraer’s Vice President for Customer Support & Aftermarket Sales, said.
