Mears Machine Lands 10-Year Deal to Supply Hardware for Major US Defense Firm
Indiana-based Mears Machine Corporation has signed a long-term supply agreement to produce critical hardware for a “major” American defense contractor.
The 10-year initiative supports the unnamed partner in developing a new airframe platform and existing products.
The firm targets a revenue of about $100 million during the first three years of the effort, with additional sustainment and production opportunities throughout the remaining schedules.
Using 3D Printing, CNC Tech
Mears Machine said the deal will expand its footprint in 3D printing, as well as precision machining for “flight-critical, high-reliability aerospace and defense components.”
Among the company’s proven capabilities are the Laser Powder Bed Printers, which use high-powered lasers to transform metallic powders into solid structures, as well as Computer Numerical Control mills and lathes, which shape complex materials by rotating and turning them at high speed.
Items built from these solutions are commonly distributed for projectiles, orbital vehicles, gas turbines, and advanced propulsion technologies.
“This agreement reinforces the confidence our customers place in Mears Machine as a trusted, long-term manufacturing partner,” said James Lloyd, CEO at Mears Machine Corporation.
“Securing a position on a new airframe platform expands our program portfolio, strengthens backlog visibility, and enables continued investment in our workforce, capacity and differentiated capabilities across both conventional and additive manufacturing technologies.”
