Raytheon Bags $197M USAF Deal to Supply MS-110 Recon Pods to Poland

The US Air Force Life Cycle Management Center has awarded Raytheon a $197-million contract to supply MS-110 multispectral reconnaissance systems for the Polish Air Force.

The contract covers production, aircraft integration, and engineering support for seven MS-110 multispectral reconnaissance pods.

Work will be performed in Westford, Massachusetts, and is scheduled for completion by August 2031.

Once delivered, Poland is set to become the first NATO member and fourth global air force to acquire the capability, according to Raytheon.

The MS-110

The MS-110 pushes “next-generation processing to the tactical edge to defeat camouflage and decoys in near real time,” said Dan Theisen, president of Advanced Products and Solutions.

Building on the DB-110 dual-band airborne reconnaissance system, the MS-110 captures imagery across multiple visual and infrared bands with common ground coverage.

It enables broader area surveillance from longer standoff distances while producing higher quality imagery than legacy pods, and its artificial intelligence and machine learning features enable it to rapidly process and interpret data.

The pod is designed to slot directly into existing DB-110 operational concepts, using common ground support equipment to ease adoption.

It can be carried by advanced fighters such as the F-16, F-15, F/A-18, and Gripen, as well as larger platforms including C-130 transport aircraft, maritime patrol aircraft, and medium-altitude long-endurance drones like the MQ-9.

“This capability empowers the US and our allies to maintain a strategic advantage in an evolving global defense landscape by bolstering survivability, responsiveness and wide area surveillance,” Theisen added.
