With the M1E3 Abrams beginning to take shape, details about the US Army’s next-gen main battle tank have also started to emerge, including a cockpit inspired by “Formula One.”
US Army Chief of Staff Randy George said the tank will feature an interface similar to an “Xbox controller,” and the modular cockpit was developed in collaboration with Fanatec, a German firm known for high-end driving simulator hardware.
He also noted that the service is working with local firms Caterpillar Inc. and SAPA on the Abrams’ engine and transmission systems.
