HII Joins $25.4B US Defense Microelectronics, Advanced Tech Program

HII has announced that it was selected, along with 11 other companies, for the Advanced Technology Support Program V (ATSP5), a 10-year, $25.4-billion multiple-award contract providing engineering solutions for electronics and software challenges.

Managed by the US Defense Microelectronics Activity (DMEA), ATSP5 is used across the US Department of Defense and other federal agencies to obtain advanced microelectronics, engineering, prototyping, and technology modernization support.

The program addresses system obsolescence, supports rapid deployment, and provides access to advanced technologies.

It focuses on solutions needed to maintain system operations, enhance capabilities, and respond to emerging threats.

HII engineers provide system- and component-level expertise, including reverse engineering, microelectronics assurance, and redeployment of previously obsolete systems, using in-house tools and a model-based technical approach.

“Delivering a trusted, assured supply of microelectronics directly impacts warfighter survivability, mission success and technological superiority at a time when secure chips shape battlefield advantage,” said Grant Hagen, president of Mission Technologies’ Warfare Systems group at HII.

ATSP5

ATSP5 supports rapid acquisition by streamlining procurement and providing participating agencies with faster, easier access to pre-qualified industry partners, including major defense companies.

Its scope covers both hardware and software, including studies, analysis, design, and software development.

It also supports simulation, integration, testing, producibility assessments, and limited extended production.

The program allows major systems to be acquired in modular segments, enabling phased delivery of capabilities and integration of technological advancements.

Program oversight is conducted through monthly Program Management Reviews, where critical cost, schedule, and performance parameters are reviewed with DMEA management.
