US Marines Add More Amphibious Combat Vehicles Under $184M BAE Deal

The US Marine Corps has awarded BAE Systems a $184-million contract to produce 30 additional Amphibious Combat Vehicles (ACV).

The award, designated Full-Rate Production 6A, forms part of an earlier Lot 5/6 agreement and brings the total number of ACV-30 variants on order to more than 100.

Designed to replace the aging Assault Amphibious Vehicle, the ACV is built to operate from open ocean to complex inland terrain, transporting marines, equipment, and payloads while remaining ready for upgrades such as the 30mm cannon turret produced by Kongsberg.

Manufacturing and integration work will be spread across Pennsylvania and South Carolina, with turret integration supported by the Naval Warfare Information Center in Charleston.

Alongside the ACV-30, the company is already producing the personnel carrier and command variants, while also delivering recovery versions intended to support field maintenance and repair for marine assault amphibious units.

US Defense-BAE Systems

Beyond the ACV program, BAE Systems has secured several major US defense contracts over the past two years.

In 2024, the US Army awarded BAE Systems a contract to continue production and upgrades of the M109A7 Paladin self-propelled howitzer and its accompanying ammunition carrier, a core element of the army’s artillery modernization effort.

The same year, the company also received follow-on funding to sustain and enhance the Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle program, which is replacing legacy M113 platforms across multiple brigade combat teams.

In 2025, BAE Systems landed additional US Navy work tied to production of the advanced precision kill weapon system laser-guidance kits for the US and allied forces.
