Russia Fields Camo Tech With Realistic Materials
Russia is deploying a new camouflage technology with realistic materials designed to better conceal troops and ground vehicles along frontline positions, according to Ukrainian media.
The sheet integrates objects that simulate rocks, debris, and textured surfaces to blend more effectively with the surrounding terrain and reduce detection by aerial and thermal imaging.
Sources described the solution as part of a broader effort to improve survivability under persistent drone and surveillance pressure.
The move coincides with a shift in Russian ground tactics, as Moscow moves away from large-scale assaults toward smaller, more mobile attacks.
Ukraine’s top military commander said Russian forces now operate in compact assault teams of four to six soldiers, an approach dubbed the “thousand cuts” strategy.
The operation is built to gradually wear down Ukrainian defenses, though it has led to significant Russian infantry losses.
Latest Conflict Updates
Moscow’s new tactic comes after its largest territorial gains in Ukraine since 2022, achieved last year, according to Ukrainian and Western assessments.
Russia has also maintained pressure through air attacks. Recent strikes hit residential areas of Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, damaging multi-story buildings and leaving sections in ruins.
The battlefield developments come amid renewed diplomatic activity aimed at ending the nearly four-year war.
Separately, Moscow accused Ukraine of launching dozens of drones at a residence linked to President Vladimir Putin, a claim Ukraine dismissed as false and intended to undermine US-led peace efforts.
