Textron Wins $41M Contract for US Air Force T-7A Maintenance Training Support

Textron Systems has secured a $41-million contract to support the US Air Force’s T-7A Advanced Pilot Training Program – Maintenance Training System.

Awarded by federal contractor Akima, the three-year task order covers the design, assembly, and deployment of common fuselage structures for three sustainment simulators used to train military ground crews.

These simulators prepare maintainers to service operational T-7A Red Hawk aircraft and associated subsystems.

They provide hands-on training in a realistic environment, with instructions including component removal and installation, virtual assessments, inspections, and related procedures.

Textron will perform the work at its facility in Goose Creek, South Carolina, which focuses on tactical simulation products for maintainer skills across fighter, bomber, and transport aircraft.

The contract includes options for additional training systems valued at up to $21 million, bringing the potential total value to $62 million.

Textron will work with Akima’s Alabama-based subsidiary, Pinnacle Solutions, on the effort.

“Textron Systems brings the Pinnacle team decades of proven expertise in advanced maintenance training systems to effectively equip the US Air Force with the skills and essential capabilities needed to maintain the T-7A and its associated subsystems,” said Steve Mensh, senior vice president of electronic systems at Textron.

“This effort represents Textron Systems’ excellence in training and mission readiness as part of our ongoing commitment to the US Air Force.”
