Syntec Optics Secures New Order for US Military AR Systems

Syntec Optics has landed a new order to supply advanced optics for the US military’s next generation of augmented reality (AR) systems.

The Pennsylvania-based company said the order covers lightweight, high-clarity optics designed to support AR displays readable in diverse lighting conditions, a key requirement for extended operations in high-stress environments.

Under the deal, the optics will be integrated into extended-reality prototypes capable of withstanding the physical and operational demands of modern warfare. Syntec’s components will support Micro-LED imaging through a visor, allowing digital overlays without sacrificing clarity or adding excessive weight.

This aligns with the growing push to equip soldiers with digital vision tools that perform in both day and night combat scenarios.

Companies Powering US Military AR Systems

Syntec Optics is part of a broader industrial ecosystem supporting AR for US forces, where major defense contractors and technology firms develop complementary hardware, software, and integration capabilities.

L3Harris Technologies provides night vision, sensors, and display components that feed into AR and heads-up systems, while Collins Aerospace has worked on helmet-mounted displays and human-machine interfaces for air and ground forces.

Elbit Systems has long supplied helmet-mounted display technology and remains a key contributor to soldier and pilot AR solutions.

More recently, Anduril Industries has emerged as a significant player by integrating software-driven sensing, autonomy, and data fusion into battlefield systems capable of supporting AR applications.
