Cymat to Extend Blast-Proof Kit Supply for Asian Military Vehicles
Canadian materials company Cymat Technologies has secured a $1.8-million contract to continue supplying stabilized aluminum foam underbelly kits to an Asian military vehicle manufacturer.
The lightweight, impact-resistant foams are fitted on vehicle chassis to absorb energy, protect against blasts and abrasions, and enhance durability in harsh environments.
The deal, to be facilitated by the firm’s SmartMetal division, is the third order under the customer’s full-rate production to equip personnel carriers for the nation’s armed forces.
It covers 176 aluminum foam kits, scheduled for delivery throughout 2026.
A broader initial supply agreement encompasses a total of 350 vehicles, with the total value to reach between $4 and $5 million. Shipments will conclude within 18 months.
The Asian country ultimately plans to acquire a fleet of 700 vehicles.
Michael Liik, CEO and chairman at Cymat, highlighted that the latest deal accelerates expansion and drives more consistent profit for the Ontario-based company.
“We have received consistently larger orders from this long-standing military customer and expect the trend to continue,” Liik said.
“With our enhanced credibility and more established footing in this vertical, we anticipate both additional opportunities with this current customer as well as significantly increased interest from our other SmartMetal customers in this vertical.”
