NP Aerospace Reinvents Armored Toyota Land Cruiser 300 for NATO Applications

British mobility developer NP Aerospace has unveiled its refreshed armored Toyota Land Cruiser 300 (LC300), designed to meet NATO standards and international protection requirements.

The vehicle meets the latest certifications for ballistic, blast, and vehicle safety, and is also the first armored SUV that is proven to withstand a 2-meter (7-foot) side blast while keeping a third row of seats, setting a new benchmark for passenger protection.

It underwent an evaluation process employing lifelike crash-test dummies to accurately measure how explosions and bullets affect users inside, confirming the vehicle’s high level of survivability.

Additional features of the improved LC300 include a bolt-in armor mechanism for faster assembly and modular electrical integration, extending its service life for up to a decade.

It also has a reinforced chassis and suspension, double-cab and extended-chassis variants, and integrated encrypted communications systems tailored to military and humanitarian missions.

Acquisition, Design Overhaul

NP Aerospace acquired the intellectual property for the armored LC300 and related components from Surrey-headquartered Jankel Armouring in 2024 after it entered administration.

Since then, NP Aerospace has upgraded the vehicle’s design, applying its in-house expertise in vehicle engineering, integration, and production to deliver a significantly refined and durable armored platform.

Simultaneously with this development, NP Aerospace has expanded the workforce at its production site in Coventry to meet growing armored system demand and align with higher manufacturing standards.

In July 2025, the company launched its Civilian Armored Vehicle support program, aimed at providing maintenance and operational assistance to defense ministries, non-governmental organizations, and international fleets using armored vehicles.

Land Cruiser 300 Specifications

The Toyota LC300 4×4 system is 5 meters (16 feet) long and offers seating for up to seven people.

It can be equipped with a diesel or gasoline engine with an output of up to 415 horsepower and is supported by a 10-speed transmission.

The vehicle has a top speed of 210 kilometers (130 miles) and a range of approximately 1,200 kilometers (746 miles).

Similar to the LC300, other variants under the Land Cruiser series have been adapted to meet modern military requirements, including minelaying and anti-mine, combat, field ambulance, armored personnel carrier, special operations, and counter-unmanned aerial system roles.
