GE Aerospace, Poland Ink MoU for F110 MRO Support

GE Aerospace has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Poland’s Military Aviation Works (WZL-2) to develop a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) program for the F110-GE-129 engine.

Under the agreement, GE Aerospace and WZL-2 — belonging to Poland’s state-owned PGZ Group — will assess requirements for intermediate and depot-level maintenance, including tooling, machining, training, and test cell modifications.

“This MOU with WZL-2 will allow us to identify opportunities to support Poland’s maintenance needs for the F110 engine and strengthen local capabilities,” said Sean Keith, F110 Product Director at GE Aerospace.

Keith explained that the F110 is designed with Shop Replacement Units that enable 90 percent of maintenance to be done locally, reducing downtime and lifecycle costs.

With 29,500 pounds (13,381 kilograms) of thrust, it powers Boeing’s F-15EX fighter aircraft, as well as the F-16 Block 50 and its newer variants.

While Warsaw is reportedly still considering acquiring the F-15EX as part of its modernization efforts, it already signed a contract with the US to upgrade its F-16 Block 52 fleet to the Block 72 configuration in August 2025.

Apart from the MRO support agreement, GE Aerospace signed an F110 engine partnership with the Polish Military University of Technology last month.

The September deal covers the possible establishment of an engine training school to support F110 maintenance and explore the creation of an additive manufacturing laboratory.
