Epirus Opens Counter-Drone Innovation Hub in Oklahoma

Epirus has inaugurated a counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) innovation facility at Fort Sill’s Fires Innovation Science and Technology Accelerator (FISTA) Innovation Park in Lawton, Oklahoma.

The 5,300-square-foot (492-square-meter) Epirus Immersive Innovation Center will operate as a hands-on facility for developing anti-drone technologies, including its proven Leonidas high-power microwave system and weaponized electromagnetic interference capability.

The site features simulation terminals, mission planning bays, and interactive control stations, allowing operators to test systems in realistic threat environments and refine user interface design.

Supporting ‘Strategic Advantage’

The center aligns with Eprirus’ broader plan of refining the performance of C-UAS solutions to neutralize multiple drones at once.

The purpose-built facility will also play a key role in bringing engineers and frontline operators together to close the gap between design and real-world use amid growing threats.

US Representative for Oklahoma Tom Cole, who also serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, joined Epirus leaders for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of the center.

In his remarks, Cole described the center as a vital investment in modern warfare technology and national security.

“As near-peer threats evolve, capabilities like Epirus’ Leonidas high-power microwave platform are essential to ensuring the US maintains strategic advantage,” Cole said.

“This simulation center is exactly what our air defenders at Fort Sill need to stay ahead of the drone threat and prepare for future fights. We’re pleased to see Epirus expand their Oklahoma footprint and strengthen our state’s innovation ecosystem.”

FISTA Innovation Park is a regional hub for defense technology and home to the US Army’s Joint Counter-Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems University.
